JONESBORO, Ark. (4/14/26) –
Thomas Schmidt earned his second consecutive and seventh career individual medalist honors to lead the Arkansas State men's golf team to the team crown Tuesday at RidgePointe Country Club.
Schmidt closed out the victory with a final round 3-over par 75 to total 6-under par 210 in his second consecutive win and third of the season. He ties Zan Luka Stirn's single season record of three wins set in the 2018-19 campaign and Schmidt extends his program record to seven career wins, two better than Stirn.
Five other Red Wolves finished inside the top 10 and another was in the top 15.
Jake Wallis had the low round of the day for A-State at 4-under par 68 to finished tied for second at 5-under par 211.
Cole Kirby also totaled 5-under par 211 to tie for second, a career best finish and career best 54-hole total.
Jake Lile closed out a fourth-place finish at 3-under par 213 while
Niels Knudsen had a career best 54-hole total of 2-under par 214 to tie for fifth.
Milan Reed turned in a 2-under par 70 to total 1-under par 215 for the tournament and a tie for ninth.
Chris Somerfield placed 14th at 1-over par 217 while
Viggo Hed totaled 13-over par 229 to finish 44th.
A-State claimed its fourth win of the season becoming the fourth team in program history with four or more wins in a season. The Red Wolves finished the third round at 5-under par 283 their eighth consecutive round under par this season extending the single-season program record to 21. A-State totaled 25-under par 539 to top Houston Christian (+13) by 38 strokes while Southeastern Louisiana (+15), Bradley (+21) and Omaha (+22) completed the top five.
The Red Wolves turn their attention to the Sun Belt Conference Championship, held April 27-30, at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Miss. Daily coverage will be available on ESPN+.
