Diggy Coleman Signs With A-State Men’s Basketball Ahead of 2026-27 Season

4/15/2026 6:00:00 PM

JONESBORO, Ark. (4/15/26) – Arkansas State men's basketball head coach Ryan Pannone announced the addition of Alabama 7A Player of the Year Finalist Diggy Coleman to the 2026-27 roster on Wednesday.

"Diggy Coleman is a 6'0 guard that can dribble, pass and shoot," Pannone said. "I found out about him because there was a high school coach in Alabama that shot me a message and said there was a guard in his area that reminded him of Mark Sears. He had me at Mark Sears, so I went to go watch his game and he plays very similar.

He can create his own shot at any time and is a really good off-the-dribble three-point shooter that connects 40 percent of the time. He's a strong and powerful driver that cracks the paint and creates the rim pressure we need to create high-value shots for teammates, and he's super-willing passer."

The Dothan, Alabama, native joins the program after a standout career at Dothan High School. The Wolves' all-time leading scorer tallied over 1,600 points in four seasons of interscholastic basketball, earning ASWA First Team All-State honors.

The guard was named the 2025-26 Dothan Eagle Super 12 Player of the Year after leading his team to a final four appearance in the state tournament. He led all scorers with 33 points in the semifinal matchup against Tuscaloosa County, converting five three-pointers on 11 attempts.

Coleman competed in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game on March 14. In addition to his all-state distinction, he was a three-time All-Area Team selection and a Regional Tournament MVP.

"I called around to gather a bunch of intel on him and everyone told me elite character and toughness," Pannone said. Anyone I came into contact with kept saying the same two things, unbelievable toughness and unbelievable character. Those were qualities we were looking for as we're building our program. His skill level, IQ, toughness and character made him a no-brainer for us."
