A-State Track and Field Begins Action at Bryan Clay Invitational and Prepares for Alumni Classic

JONESBORO, Ark. (4/15/26) – Arkansas State track and field begins action at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 16 and will host the Arkansas State Alumni Classic one day later at the A-State Track & Field Complex.
 
The Red Wolves' distance runners open competition in Azusa, California, at 10:10 a.m. when reigning Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Men's Runner of the Year Carlo Martinez-Jaramillo competes in the 10,000 meters. One day later, a majority of the A-State roster will compete in the program's annual home meet.

THREE THINGS TO NOTE:
BOYD RUNS INTO A-STATE HISTORY: Sophomore sprinter Syriah Boyd became the second Red Wolf to set a new program record in the 2025-26 season. The Galesburg, Illinois, native clocked in at 53.45 in the women's 400 meters and finished at second place in the event at the Joe Walker Invite on April 11. She passed Charmisha Morrow's previous A-State record of 53.67 set in 2011.
 
STANDOUT WEEKEND - APRIL 9-11: Arkansas State track and field put together a strong showing at the Bryan Clay Multis and Joe Walker Invite on April 9-11 in Azusa, California, and Oxford, Mississippi. The Red Wolves won six events and 26 personal bests were established over three days of action. Overall, A-State had at least one athlete finish inside the top 10 in 38-of-43 events at the two meets.
 
SQUAD RANKINGS UPDATE: A-State track and field holds three top 10 national standings in the USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings as of April 15. The men's shot put squad consisting of Menachem Chen, Chris Boyd, Jared Moore and Omar Hussein ranks third nationally with a total distance of 71.94m. The quartet also ranks fifth nationally in the men's discus throw with a distance of 213.94m. The men's pole vault team consisting of John Carswell, Gavin Schaer, Jacob Dorrell and Ben Carlile also holds a seventh place ranking with a total height of 20.40m. The #EventSquad rankings evaluate team depth by combining performances of a team's top athletes in individual events.
