JONESBORO, Ark. (5/26/26) – Arkansas State track and field's 12 competitors in the NCAA West First Rounds will make their bids for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships beginning on May 27 at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Nine Red Wolves will compete on the first day, beginning with
Egor Kniazev in the men's hammer throw at 9:30 a.m. while
Brandon Williams will conclude action in the men's 800 meters at 7:50 p.m. On the next day,
Kiara Strayhorn will compete in the women's long jump at 6:30 p.m. while
Carly Pujol and
Selase Sampram will compete 30 minutes later.
Pujol is on the docket for the women's pole vault and Sampram is set to begin action in the women's shot put.
Menachem Chen is slated to compete in his second event at the first rounds on Friday, May 29, in the men's discus throw. If Williams and
Colby Eddowes (men's 110m hurdles) advance to the quarterfinals of their respective events, the duo will compete again on Friday.

THE FORMAT
Athletes who rank among the top 48 in their respective events earn bids into the first rounds, with others added due to scratches among the initial top 48. The top 12 individuals in each event at both the East and West First Rounds advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, held June 10-13, in Eugene, Oregon.
All track events, except for the 5000 meters, 10,000 meters and 3000-meter steeplechase, feature a first round and quarterfinal. The top 24 finishers from the first round advance to a quarterfinal round, and from there, those in the top 12 advance to the national meet.
In throwing and horizontal jumps events, competitors will have three attempts to achieve their best mark, with the final 12 moving on to the national meet. In vertical jumps, the top 12 athletes advance to the national championships.
