Anthony Everman

Anthony Everman enters his third season as a full-time assistant coach at Arkansas State for the 2014-15 season.

Serving as the team’s hitting coach and recruiting coordinator, Everman has helped make A-State into one of the league’s best hitting squads over the last two seasons. In 2014, the Red Wolves ranked in the top-5 in the Sun Belt in batting average, on-base percentage, runs scored, hits, RBIs, triples, walks, hit-by-pitches and stolen bases.

Everman helped A-State increase its team stats in every offensive category from 2013-14, including raising the team batting average by 10 points to .266 this past season. For a second straight season the Red Wolves ranked among the league’s best in walks with 253 during the year, while the Red Wolves more than doubled its successful stolen bases from a season ago.

Sophomore Matt Burgess led the team with a .313 batting average and was named a CollegeSportsMadness.com All-Sun Belt Conference First-Team selection at the end of the year. He was also a finalist for the NCBWA All-America ballot and was second in the conference with 58 RBIs. Meanwhile, senior Zach Maggio enjoyed the best season of his career with a .312 batting and a .412 on-base percentage both of which ranked among the Sun Belt’s best in each category.

Since arriving at A-State, Everman has helped several Red Wolves reach career milestones. In 2013, former Red Wolves Ryan Emery and Logan Uxa broke the school record for walks in season with Emery becoming the school's all-time leader in the category. Emery also finished among the top-three in RBIs is his career at A-State, while Logan Uxa was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the MLB Amateur draft. 

The Red Wolves were one of the Sun Belt's best fielding teams in 2013, committing the second fewest error of any squad in the league and had a .972 fielding percentage.

A native of Castalia, Iowa, Everman brings a wealth collegiate coaching experience to the Arkansas State staff, including one year at Arkansas State, where he served as a volunteer assistant during the 2009 season.  Everman will work primarily with infielders and assist with hitting with the Red Wolves.

He was an assistant at Garden City Community College during the 2012 season, while also serving as an associate scout for the Cleveland Indians during the past year.  After leaving Arkansas State following the 2009 season, he was an assistant coach at Kansas State during the 2010 season, and an assistant at Northern Colorado in 2011.
 
While an assistant at Kansas State, he helped guide the Wildcats to a berth in the 2010 NCAA Tournament, and has coached in the post-season in five other seasons as well.  He also spent time on the coaching staffs at Virginia Tech, Loras (Iowa) College and Ferrum (Va.) College.  He also brings a wealth of NCAA-sanctioned summer league experience to ASU, managing the Covington (Va.) Lumberjacks for two seasons, winning the league championship in 2005.
