JONESBORO, Ark. (6-5-2007) ? The annual Keith Kessinger Summer Baseball Camps got underway Monday at Arkansas State University's Kell Field with a morning all-skills camp for youth ages 6-12.  The morning camp was followed by an afternoon all-skills camp for players 13-15 years old.

“We are pleased with this week's turnouts at our camps, and look forward to welcoming even more youth to the four remaining camps we will be holding in the coming weeks,” said ASU head coach Keith Kessinger.  “We are teaching the fundamentals that help the campers improve their skills, while at the same time, teaching them to have fun playing the game of baseball.”

Space is still available for those wishing to attend the remaining camps, which are open to youth ranging from six years old to 2007 high school seniors.   Kessinger and ASU assistants Chris Berry, Chris Cook, and Mike Sirianni will provide instruction at the camps, along with current and former Indian baseball players.

Four remaining camps are scheduled ? an all-skills camp for youth ages 6-12 will be held June 11-14.  A hitting camp for ages 6 years through 2007 high school seniors will be held June 11-14, and a pitcher/catcher camp for youth ages 6 years through high school seniors will be held July 9.  The summer camp schedule will conclude with a High School Showcase July 16 for ninth graders through 2007 high school seniors.

Campers should provide their own hat, glove, helmet, supporters, bat, and suitable baseball attire (baseball pants or shorts). Campers should also bring tennis shoes in the event that the camp is held indoors due to bad weather.
