JONESBORO, Ark. (5-15-2008) ? Arkansas State made a 1-0 second inning lead hold up through six innings, but the Trojans of Arkansas-Little Rock (14-32, 8-18) scored three times in the seventh to take a 3-1 victory over the Indians (20-32-1, 8-19-1) in game one of a Sun Belt Conference series Thursday night at Tomlinson Stadium and Kell Field.

Both starting pitchers went the distance on the night.  Indian junior Chase Ware (5-6) struck out 10 batters in the game while giving up nine hits and walking one, but Trojan starter Levi Laughlin (5-5) gave up just four hits on the night with six strikeouts and a walk.

The Tribe scored its second-inning run when senior shortstop Ryan Hudgins tripled and came home on a single from junior third baseman Guy Brown.

Ware kept the Trojans off the scoreboard until the seventh, but an RBI single from senior shortstop Tommy Mousel tied the game at 1-1.  A two-run double from sophomore left fielder Brad Swiderski put the UALR on top 3-1, and Laughlin allowed just one baserunner in the final three innings to put the game away.

Hudgins and Brown each had two hits on the night for ASU, while Mousel and junior third baseman Kody Kroll each had two hits to lead UALR.

The Indians and Trojans will resume the series Friday night.  A ceremony honoring ASU's three graduating seniors is scheduled for 6:45 p.m., with the first pitch to follow at 7 p.m.
