ASU?s McMurtry and Jingblad Ranked Among Top 20 Players In Sun Belt Soccer

JONESBORO, Ark. (10/24/11) – The well known online soccer news site, TopDrawerSoccer.com has released its top 20 player conference rankings through all games this season and Arkansas State landed two players on the Sun Belt rankings with freshman forward Jessica Jingblad ranked 10th and junior defender Ashley McMurtry ranked 14th.

“I am extremely excited for both players and remain confident that they can continue reaping more awards. Jessica will likely set many scoring records and Ashley has been an outstanding and selfless leader playing all three positions this season,” said ASU head coach Tafadzwa Ziyenge.

Jingblad has appeared in all 18 games this season and leads the team with six goals and 17 points. She also ranks second on the team with five assists and has scored three game winners, also a team high. Her six goals scored ranks tied for fifth on the single season record board at ASU.

McMurtry has rewritten the career assist record at Arkansas State with 16 so far after nearly three seasons on the team. This season she has assisted on six goals to lead the team appearing in all 18 games this season. McMurtry has also helped anchor the Red Wolves defense which has recorded six team saves and shut out four opponents. McMurtry was also named team captain during the season.

The Red Wolves return to action on Friday in its last regular season contest hosting UALR at 2 p.m. at the ASU Soccer Complex.
