JONESBORO, Ark. (11/14/11) – Arkansas State's Jasmine Terry and Megan
Baska were voted the Sun Belt Conference's Volleyball Player of the Week and
Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Red Wolves to a 2-0 record last
week and their third consecutive SBC West Division Championship, the league
announced Monday.
The Red Wolves swept the final SBC volleyball player of the week honors
for the second consecutive season. Baska and Cayla Fielder were named the
defensive player of the week and player of the week, respectively, in the final
week of the regular season in 2010. The award is Terry's first of her career,
while Baska won the defensive player of the week for the fourth time this
season and for the seventh time in her career.
Terry put up 29 kills and a .521 attacking percentage in two matches to
close out the regular season for A-State. She had 14 kills and a .500 attacking
percentage in a sweep over Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday night and then added
15 kills in a sweep over Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday.
Baska finished the weekend with 38 digs and a 6.44 digs per set average
in her two matches. Against ULL she had 20 digs and a 6.67 digs per set average
and then added 18 digs against ULM on Sunday. Her overall 4.26 digs per set
average ranks fourth in the conference.
The Red Wolves will travel to Miami, Fla., for the SBC Championships
this week. ASU is seeded third and is set to take on North Texas Thursday, Nov.
17 at 1:30 p.m. All
