JONESBORO, Ark.
(9/19/11) – Sophomore libero Megan Baska earned her second Sun Belt Conference
Defensive Player of the week award this year after helping the Arkansas State
volleyball team post a 4-0 record last week, including a 3-0 mark at the
Holiday Inn Express Invitational that was hosted Northwestern State University.
The Red Wolves
(9-5) have won five straight matches, including a sweep over Southeast Missouri
State in their home opener on Oct. 13. Baska totaled 55 digs on the week,
including 18 against SEMO and 25 against Central Arkansas. She averaged 5.00
digs per set on the weekend and added four assists and five aces.
The Overland
Park, Kan., native now has 269 digs to her credit this season for an overall
average of 4.98 per set, which ranks third in the conference. Baska has now been named the Sun Belt
Conference Defensive Player of the Week six times during her career at ASU.
Arkansas State
will open Sun Belt Conference play this weekend when the Red Wolves travel to
Middle Tennessee on Sept. 23 and Western Kentucky on Sept. 24.
