JONESBORO, Ark. (3/5/12) – Arkansas
State head volleyball coach David Rehr announced on Monday that Jessica Weynand
will join the 2012 ASU volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Weynand spent
the previous season at Blinn College where she was an assistant under Rehr. She
helped lead Blinn College to the 2011 NJCAA National Championship with a
perfect 38-0 record that ended with four-set victory over Western Wyoming in
the championship match.
“Hiring Jessica is important now because we need someone the
student athletes can relate to,” Rehr said. “As a former collegiate volleyball
player she has experience in every facet of being a student athlete. As a coach
she is confident in her abilities while still working on developing her skills.”
The Brenham,
Texas native attended Texas State University where was named to the Southland
Conference All-Tournament Team in 2007. During her senior season, she was named
as a first team All-Southland Conference selection and was named as the team's
MVP.
Weynand
earned her Bachelors of Science in Recreational Administration from Texas State
University in 2008.
