JONESBORO, Ark. (11/3/16) – The Arkansas State women's bowling team is scheduled to travel to Houston, Texas for the Track Kat Klash, being hosted by Sam Houston State University at Emerald Lanes Nov. 4-6.

The third-ranked Red Wolves (7-4) are one of 18 teams set to participate in the event and one of 10 ranked squads. No. 1 Nebraska, No. 2 Stephen F. Austin, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 6 Sam Houston State, No. 7 Central Missouri, No. 12 Delaware State, No. 18 Tulane, No. 22 Prairie View A&M, and No. 24 Jackson State are the other ranked teams set to compete. Alabama State, Bethune-Cookman, Grambling, Lincoln Memorial, Louisiana Tech, Southern, Texas Southern, and Youngstown State round out the list of teams scheduled to participate.

The tournament starts Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. with six sets of five-game Baker matches, followed by five traditional matches on Saturday morning, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Combined results from the first two days will determine the seeding for Sunday's bracket-play tournament, which features each team playing three rounds of best-of-seven Baker matches, beginning at 8:20 a.m.

A-State opened the season with a second-place showing at the Wildcat Invitational in Orlando, Fla., Oct. 21-23. The team earned the top seed with a total pinfall of 10,213 and defeated Sam Houston State 4-2 to open bracket play to advance to the championship. However, the Bearkats won the rematch in the championship by a count of 4-1 to put A-State in second place.

Jordan Richard earned MVP honors at the event along with a place on the all-tournament squad with a total pinfall of 1,149 pins (229.80 per game average). All five of A-State's bowlers finished in the top-13 with Haley Richard placing sixth with 1,098 pins (219.60 per game), while Brooke Wood finished ninth with a pinfall of 1,018 (203.60 average). Jadee Scott-Jones placed 11th with 992 pins (198.40 per game), while Samantha Wallace finished 13th with 981 total pins (196.20 average).
