MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. (4/17/16) – The Arkansas State women's golf team completed the Sun Belt Conference Championship's first round Monday in fourth place among nine teams after shooting a 310 at the Raven Golf Club.
The Red Wolves are currently only one stroke behind third-place Little Rock, while Troy leads the field with a 300 and Texas State stands second with a 301. A-State holds a one-stroke advantage over Georgia State.
Aracelly Jimenez Rios led the Red Wolves, carding a 75 that put her in a tie for sixth place. The true freshman is tied with five other players and within two strokes of co-leaders Jemima Gregson of Georgia State and Bianca Lohbauer of Troy.
Also finishing the day among the top-25 leaders for the Red Wolves were Beth Ann Compton and Sarah Childers, who shot a 77 and 78, respectively. Compton is tied for 16th place and Childers tied for 19th. Olivia Loiacano posted an 80 that has her tied for 26th place and Emma Miller recorded an 82 to place her tied for 36th.
The 54-hole tournament continues Monday with the second round.
