A-State’s Stirn Named SBC Men’s Golfer of the Week

JONESBORO, Ark. (3/15/17) – Arkansas State freshman Zan Luka Stirn was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf of the Week on Wednesday after recently claiming a runner-up finish at the Tiger Invitational with a 10-under 206.

The Kranj, Slovenia, native collected his best finish of the season to lead Arkansas State at the tourney, which included a 19-team field made up of programs such as Auburn, Missouri, Georgia State, South Alabama, Mississippi State and others.

His 206 was the lowest three-round score by an A-State player this season, and he finished just three strokes behind tournament-champion Thomas Eldridge of UNC Wilmington. His total included a season-best 66 for the opening 18 holes, followed by a 68 and 72 for the second and third rounds, respectively.

Stirn averaged 68.67 strokes per round on his way to a career-best finish, and he now has three top-15 finishes this season. He and the Red Wolves are currently competing at the Bob Sitton Invitational in Dallas.
