A-State to Recap ’20 Recruiting Class at Social Event

JONESBORO, Ark. (1/29/20) – The Arkansas State Athletics Department has announced it will hold a social event Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Centennial Bank Stadium's Woodard McAlister Family Club to recap the Red Wolves' 2020 football recruiting class, the seventh under head coach Blake Anderson.

Doors will open for the event at 5:00 p.m. and the program, featuring Anderson, will begin at 5:30 p.m.  There is no admission charge and light snacks will be provided, while a cash bar will also be available.

Those in attendance will have an opportunity to visit with Anderson, who will discuss the Red Wolves' entire recruiting class on the same day as the second NCAA national signing period begins.  The gathering will include video highlights of each recruit.

The early signing period was held in December, and the Red Wolves have already announced 16 players from 11 different states who have joined the program as part of its 2020 recruiting class.  The class is currently made up of nine defensive and six offensive players and one kicker.

Although it's still incomplete, this year's recruiting class is currently ranked second in the Sun Belt and 16th in the nation among Group of 5 programs by Rivals.  Since 2011, A-State's recruiting classes have placed higher than 16th out of current Group of 5 members in Rivals' final rankings three times – 2012, 2015 and 2018.

Each of A-State's six previous classes (2014-19) have been ranked by Rivals as at least one of the top two in the Sun Belt, and they have ranked among the top three classes in the league by both Rivals and 247Sports four times.

A-State has seen 34 different players from part of the last seven recruiting classes named All-Sun Belt Conference, many of them earning the honor multiple times.  Those classes have also produced two players chosen as the league's Player of the Year, two others as the Freshman of the Year and an Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.

Arkansas State is set to begin its 2020 spring camp Feb. 17.  The Red Wolves will hold 14 practices prior to its Spring Game, which is slated for March 19.
