A-State Cross Country To Run In Meets At UAB, Little Rock

JONESBORO, Ark. (10/15/20) – With over a month elapsing since their last races, the Arkansas State cross country teams are set to run in two meets as a final tune-up for the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships.

On Friday, several Red Wolves will face a strong field at the Blazer Classic, hosted by UAB and held at Veteran's Park in Hoover, Alabama. A-State's first race, the women's gold 6K, is slated for an 8:50 a.m. start, followed by the men's gold 8K at 9:20 a.m.

In the women's race, A-State will take on host UAB, Southern Miss, South Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, Louisville, Florida Atlantic, South Carolina and Lee University. The men will toe the line against South Alabama, Auburn, Lee, Alabama-Huntsville, Augusta, Clemson, Troy and Mercer.

On Saturday, the rest of the Red Wolves will head to the capital city for the Little Rock Open, held at War Memorial Park. The women's 5K race is slated to begin at 10:15 a.m., with the men's 8K following at 11 a.m.

There, A-State will run against athletes from Little Rock, Central Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri State (women only), ULM, Delta State (women only), Philander Smith, Jacksonville (TX) College and Arkansas-Fort Smith.

After running in Hoover and Little Rock, Arkansas State will turn its focus toward the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Championships, held Saturday, Oct. 31, at Brookley Golf Course in Mobile, Alabama. The A-State women look to defend last year's conference crown, while the men were picked to finish second in the preseason after notching a runner-up finish last season, as both squads return all five scorers from the conference meet.
