A-State Women’s Golf Adds Two Signees for 2021-22 Season

JONESBORO, Ark. (12/18/20) – Arkansas State women's golf head coach M.J. Desbiens Shaw announced Friday that the Red Wolves have received National Letters of Intent from Casey Sommer and Charlotte Menager to join the program for the 2021-22 season.

"I am thrilled to add two great players to our roster next season," said Desbiens Shaw. "Casey is bringing some great collegiate experience to our team. She's a true athlete who will make an immediate impact for us. She brings maturity and can help with leadership. Charlotte is the most recent addition and she brings international experience that will help her make an immediate impact as well. Charlotte has shown consistency in her scoring and I look forward to having her and Casey here in August."

Sommer joins the program from Daytona State College where she has spent the last three seasons. She earned NJCAA Second Team All-American honors after finishing tied for 11th at the NJCAA Women's Golf Championship in 2019. Sommer has posted four top-40 finishes with a low three-round total of 227 (+11) coming at the Jacksonville Classic in the fall of 2018. She posted two top-20 finishes in her time at Daytona State, finishing tied for 18th at the Lady Falcon Invitational in 2018 and 2019. Excelling in the classroom, Sommer earned WGCA All-American Scholar recognition in 2019. Sommer was a four-year varsity golf player helping Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School to the 2015 State Title.

Menager joins the Red Wolves from La Wantzenau, France and Ecole Diagonale in Paris. She boasts a handicap of +1.4 and is the No. 68 player in France as of December 16. She placed ninth in the Eastern Switzerland Championship this year and was 17th in the Spanish International Strokeplay Championship in 2019. She also finished 22nd at the Swiss International Ladies Championship in 2019.
