Red Wolves Finishes Runner-Up at Music City Classic

SMYRNA, TN. (3/8/20) – The Arkansas State Women's bowling team earned a second-place finish at the Music City Classic, Sunday afternoon in Smyrna, Tenn.
 
"I'm really proud of the way our girls competed this weekend," said A-State head bowling coach Justin Kostick. "Obviously, it's not the result wanted but now we have to prepare for the conference tournament."
 
Arkansas State got off to a slow start in the final day of competition, dropping two straight matches to Louisiana Tech, but forced a seventh match, to advance to the second round of the championship bracket. 
 
In the second, the Red Wolves squared off against Vanderbilt and took the contest 4-3, to advance to the championship match against McKendree.
 
In the championship round, The Red Wolves fell to McKendree in six matches, ultimately earning a second-place-finish.
 
Westland, Mich., native Julian Huren earned her third all-tournament accolade of the 2019-20 season, after she knocked down 1,161 pins for an impressive 232.20 average. Raleigh, N.C., native Emma Stull earned all-tournament honors for Arkansas State, when she knocked down 1,079 pins on a 215.80 average.
 
The Red Wolves finished the second day of competition 10-0, with a total pinfall of 10,121 on a 202.4 average.  
 
The Arkansas State Bowling team will return to action, Friday, March 20 when it competes in the Southland Conference Tournament.
