A-State Soccer Standout Sodoma has Sights Set on Louisville

LOUISVILLE, KY.  (1/21/20) – Building a soccer legacy that continues to change history books, Arkansas State Women's soccer standout Sarah Sodoma has been claimed by the Racing Louisville Football Club. Sodoma is the first player in program history to sign with the National Women's Soccer League.

"I'm beyond excited to be able to have the opportunity to play in the NWSL," said Sodoma. "Playing at a professional level has been a dream of mine since I was a kid so it's crazy to see that it could become a reality. I can't wait to keep working and to see what the future holds."

Sodoma, the reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year, concluded the 2020 campaign leading the Sun Belt Conference in regular season goals (6), shots per game (3.7), and points (16). She tallied seven goals and four assists in all, counting the postseason, and will build on her school-record 27 career goals moving forward.

"Sarah Sodoma rises to every challenge," said A-State Head Soccer coach Brian Dooley. "The opportunity to compete for Racing Louisville in the NWSL is now another goal for Sarah. The extensive research completed by Coach Holly, Coach Curneen, and their staff found an incredible talent. We will work with their staff to provide Sarah the resources allowing her to step on the field for Racing Louisville following her college career. Sarah has earned this chance, and it serves as motivation for everyone in our program."

The striker holds multiple program records including, career goals (29), career shots on goal (101), and career shots (174).

Manchester, Mo., native Sodoma helped led her team to a program-best 10-2-1 record and a Sun Belt Conference regular-season championship in 2020. She has also earned first-team all-league honors in each of her four collegiate seasons, including Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year recognition in 2017.

Sodoma will complete the 2021 spring and fall season with the Red Wolves before heading to Louisville.
