Red Wolves Fall 3-0 At Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, La. (10/8/21) – On Friday night at the Earl K. Long Gym, the Arkansas State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at Louisiana.

Macey Putt led A-State (12-6, 3-3 SBC) with a match-high 16 kills, while Elise Wilcox posted 12 kills and a team-best .391 attack percentage. The Ragin' Cajuns (9-4, 4-1) limited the Red Wolves to just .202 hitting with eight total blocks.

Tatum Ticknor registered a match-high 16 digs while Julianna Cramer handed out a team-best 14 assists. Paulina Sobolewska collected 13 digs and contributed at the net with three blocks, which tied Kendahl Davenport for the team lead in the contest.

Two players registered double-doubles for Louisiana, led by Coco Gillett's 15 kills and 11 digs. Kelsey Bennett also tallied 10 kills and 11 digs with four aces. At the net, Kara Barnes notched a match-high four blocks.

Louisiana used a 6-1 run midway through the opening set to lead 20-15. A-State trimmed the deficit to three, but the Cajuns held off the Red Wolves for a 25-21 first-set win to lead 1-0 in the match.

After A-State led early in the second set, Louisiana took the lead on a kill by Judkins and would not look back en route to a 25-17 second-set win to take a commanding 2-0 lead. In the third set, the Red Wolves overcame an early deficit to lead by as much as seven at 19-12, but the Ragin' Cajuns surged to a 13-3 to take a 25-22 decision in the third set to clinch the match.

A-State concludes its Louisiana road trip at 11 a.m. Sunday, traveling to Monroe to face ULM. The match will not be broadcasted, but live stats are available at AStateStats.com.
