BATON ROUGE, La. (2/26/21) – A first round 7-over par 295 has the Arkansas State men's golf team fourth among 15 teams after the first round of the LSU Invitational at the University Club in Baton Rouge, La.
A-State is two strokes behind leader Illinois (+5), tied with Vanderbilt for fourth. Georgia and Tennessee are tied for second at 6-over par 294. The Red Wolves are among eight teams in the field ranked inside the top-25 of the Golfweek Collegiate Rankings.
Luka Naglic led the Red Wolves in round one, turning in an even-par 72 for the round. Naglic enters Saturday's second round tied for seventh individually. Julien Sale is tied for 11th after a 1-over par 73. Michael Weppernig is playing as an individual and is tied for 16th at 2-over par 74. Zan Luka Stirn and Adam Thorp each shot a 3-over par 75 to tie for 27th while Jack Madden is tied for 51st at 5-over par 77.
