JONESBORO, Ark. (3/20/21) – In the first-ever meeting on the soccer pitch between Arkansas State and Arkansas, the 18th-ranked Razorbacks got a 61st-minute goal to edge the Red Wolves 2-1 on Saturday at the A-State Soccer Park.
The Razorbacks (12-3-0) out-shot the Red Wolves (11-4-1) 15-8 with seven shots on goal. Megan McClure snagged five saves in goal for A-State.
Arkansas struck first in the 13th minute on a goal by Bryana Hunter in a scuffle in the box off of a free kick by Parker Goins. Sarah Sodoma would drill the equalizer in the 42nd minute, making it a 1-1 score at the half.
The Razorbacks would score the game-winner in the 61st minute when Anna Podojil fired a rocket into the top of the net inside the 6-yard box to make it 2-1. A-State would get one last chance when a McClure header off the corner kick fell wide right.
The Red Wolves resume their 2021 spring slate on Friday, April 2, traveling to Oxford, Mississippi, to face Ole Miss.
