PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. (4/12/21) – Championship season has arrived for the Arkansas State women's tennis team as the Red Wolves are set to face Troy in the first round of the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Championship at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
Seeded No. 4 from the west division, A-State meets No. 5 seed Troy (7-10, 5-5 SBC) in the opening round Thursday at 10:00 a.m. on ESPN+. The winner advances to play East Division top seed South Alabama (13-5, 8-1 Sun Belt).
A-State finished off the season at 4-8 overall and a 2-6 mark in Sun Belt action. The Red Wolves No. 1 doubles pair of
Thea Rice and
Hunter Roper finished 5-5 on the year, 2-4 in league play while the second pair of
Jill Morse and
Shelby King had a 6-6 mark overall, 3-4 in league matches. Freshmen
Nejla Zukic and
Yasmine Humbert paired up at No. 3 and produced an 8-4 mark, 2-4 in the league.
A-State's opening round match airs on ESPN+ at 10:00 a.m. Thursday (April 15) from Peachtree City, Ga. All rounds of the tournament air on ESPN+ with the championship match slated for 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
