LAWRENCE, Kan. (4/3/20) – On Saturday afternoon at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena, the Arkansas State volleyball team battled hard but ultimately fell 3-0 to Kansas in the Jayhawks' season finale.
Paulina Sobolewska led the Red Wolves (8-10) with a double-double performance of 12 kills and 10 digs. Macey Putt recorded 10 kills while Lauren Musante also notched a double-double with 18 assists and 11 digs. Tatum Ticknor tallied a match-high 20 digs.
Kansas (12-10) led 5-0 early before the Red Wolves trimmed the deficit to 7-4. A 3-0 run a few points later made it a 9-8 Jayhawks lead before KU went on a 5-0 run to lead 14-8. A-State would cut the deficit down to three multiple times down the stretch, but the Jayhawks held on for a 25-21 first-set decision to lead 1-0 in the match.
A-State battled back to lead early in the second set, but a 7-1 run gave Kansas a 12-7 lead. The Jayhawks would keep the momentum going, taking a 25-14 decision in the second set to lead 2-0 in the match.
In the third, the Jayhawks surged to an early 10-4 lead and would maintain the lead throughout the set for a 25-14 third set to earn the sweep.
