MANHATTAN, Kan. (9/20/21) – Competing in its second event of the season, the Arkansas State women’s golf team is tied for seventh among 10 teams after the second round of the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational at Colbert Hills Golf Course. 

The Red Wolves opened with a 25-over par 313 in the first round, but posted a 10-over par 298 in the second round to total 611 (+35) after 36 holes in the 54-hole tournament. Nebraska (B) leads the field at 5-over par 581 with host Kansas State second at 14-over par 590. A-State enters the final round 10 strokes behind fifth place Kansas and Nebraska (A).

Sophomore Elise Schultz paces A-State after the first day, posting a two-round total of 150 (+6) and is tied for 18th individually. Schultz turned in a 5-over par 77 in the first round and came back with the low round of the day by an A-State player with a second round 73 (+1). Junior Olivia Schmidt carded an opening round 75 (+3) and followed with a 5-over 77 and is tied for 23rd at 8-over par 152. Behind a second round 2-over par 74, Kayla Burke is tied for 40th at 11-over 155 with Kiley Rodrigues tied for 42nd at 12-over 156. Casey Sommer has totaled 158 (+14) and is tied for 47th. Playing as an individual, Maria Jose Atristain Vega is 57th with a total of 168 (+24).
