MOBILE, Ala. (9/5/21) – Behind a second round 6-under par 66 by junior Olivia Schmidt, the Arkansas State women’s golf team set a program record with a 6-under par 282 in the second of three rounds at the USA Intercollegiate at Magnolia Grove.
All five A-State players carded scores of 74 (+2) or better, led by the 6-under par 66 from Schmidt. In setting the program record low round at 282, 12th-year head coach M.J. Desbiens Shaw has helped the Red Wolves to nine of the top 10 single round scores in program history, with those nine coming since the start of the 2019-20 season, spanning 16 tournaments.
Entering Monday’s final round, A-State stands fourth among the 17-team field with a 36-hole total of 1-under par 575. Sam Houston has the lead at 17-under par 559 followed by Middle Tennessee (-8) and South Florida (-6). Houston Baptist (+2) and host South Alabama (+5) round out the top six teams.
