PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (10/30/22) – Closing out the fall portion of the 2022-23 schedule, the Arkansas State men's golf team finished in a tie for third among 12 teams ranked inside the top 150 competing at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational at the Ocean Club Golf Course.
A-State turned in its third consecutive round under par at the par-72, 7,159-yard course with a 1-under par 287 to total 17-under par 847 for the event. The Red Wolves tied for third with Sam Houston State while No. 38 Duke took the team title at 41-under par 823. Stetson, ranked No. 56 in the latest Golfstat rankings, finished second at 21-under par 843. A-State earns victories over eight top-150 squads, including No. 44 Southern Miss, No. 67 Nebraska, No. 69 ULM, and No. 78 VCU in the top-100.
Devyn Pappas carded the low round of the day for the Red Wolves for the second consecutive day at 2-under par 70 to finish tied for 21st at 4-under par 212 (72-70-70).Thomas Schmidt finished the third round at even-par 72 to total 212 (69-71-72) and tie for 21st as well. Jack Madden gave A-State three players at even-par or better Sunday with an even-par 72 and he tied for 27th with a total of 213 (68-73-72). Luka Naglic (68-74-73) and Jack Maxey (69-72-74) each tied for 29th with a total of 215 (-1). Playing as an individual, Pierce Johnson tied his season-best with a 5-under par 67 to finish up in a tie for 39th with a total of 218 (75-76-67).
