MONROE, La. (3/20/22) – The Arkansas State women's tennis once again won the doubles point, but ULM topped the Red Wolves 4-1 Sunday in a Sun Belt Conference match at Heard Stadium.
A-State (4-9, 0-3 Sun Belt) improved to 3-0 in doubles during conference play, but ULM (6-6, 3-1 Sun Belt) took four singles matches to win the match. The No. 1 pair of
Thea Rice and
Nejla Zukic moved to 15-9 on the season with a 6-2 decision. The third pair of
Emily Surcey and
Hunter Roper clinched the point with a 6-3 improving the duos record to 10-6 this season.
ULM took the four singles matches in straight sets to decide the match. Rice fell to Hala Badwy 6-0, 6-1 on court one and Surcey dropped her matchup with Alessandra Anghel 6-3, 6-1.
Sofia Vdovychenko dropped her match on court five to Jimena Garbino 6-3, 6-1 and ULM clinched the match with Giovanna Pereira topping Yasmine Humber 6-2, 6-4 on court six.
Nejla Zukic (2-6, 2-4) and
Hunter Roper (2-6, 2-1) trailed in their matches on courts three and four, respectively, when the match concluded.
