JONESBORO, Ark. (1/26/23) – Success on the course and in the classroom is a hallmark of the Arkansas State cross country program, as both the men's and women's squads received academic honors from the United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Thursday.

Both teams garnered All-Academic Team honors, boasting cumulative GPAs for 3.0 or better. In order to qualify, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, while student-athletes must hold a GPA of at least 3.25 and finish in the top 25 (or 10 percent) at their respective regional championship meets.

A-State's men, which claimed their second consecutive Sun Belt Conference title in the fall, compiled a 3.40 GPA and was one of seven league programs represented. The Red Wolves' women's squad, which finished runner-up in the league championships, boasted a 3.73 mark and was one of 13 conference members on the list.

Individually, NCAA Championships qualifier Jaybe Shufelberger was one of 171 women to earn All-Academic laurels. She was one of five women's runners from the Sun Belt Conference to be recognized.
