A-State Climbs Three Places in Second Round at Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate

2/28/2023 9:37:00 PM

HENDERSON, Nev. (2/28/23) – The Arkansas State men's golf team shot a second-round 291 Tuesday at the Reflection Bay Golf Club, climbing three places into a tie for sixth place at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate.

While the Red Wolves shot an identical 291 during Monday's opening round to end the first 18 holes tied for ninth, the total today was good enough for the sixth best score among the 15-team field.  Three of A-State's five golfers counting towards the team score improved in the second round, including Luka Naglic with a team-best 69 that moved him from 36th place into a tie for eighth with a combined 142.

Joining Naglic among the top-25 leaders for the Red Wolves, Thomas Schmidt ended the day tied for 22nd place after carding a 76 to give him a 36-hole 145 score.

With a 582 through the first two days of action, Arkansas State is currently tied with Louisiana and trails Kansas City and Kentucky by only one stroke.  Little Rock sits atop the standings with a combined 571, while New Mexico State is in second place with a 573 and Long Beach State in third with a 574.

Also competing for A-State, Jack Madden, Devyn Pappas and Felix Krammer are all tied for 31st place with a 147 total.  Jack Maxey stands tied for 46th with a 150 and Pierce Johnson is tied for 77th with a 158.

The tournament's third and final round is slated to begin at 10 a.m. CT tomorrow.  For the latest on A-State men's golf, follow the team on Twitter (@AStateMGolf), Facebook (/AStateMGolf) and Instagram (@astatemgolf).
