JONESBORO, Ark. (1/30/24) – Arkansas State women's tennis head coach Sujay Lama announced Tuesday that Spain standout Loles Carbo Chova has signed her National Letter of Intent to join the Red Wolves beginning in the fall of 2024.
"We are delighted to have Loles join our A-State tennis family," Lama said. She has an impressive tennis resume, but more importantly she is high character person and an outstanding student. She will make an immediate impact right away with her game and work ethic. Along with Carla and Lilly, I believe Loles will help add to the culture of growth and competitiveness we are building at A-State."
Carbo Chova has ranked as high as No. 15 in the competitive Spainish junior rankings. She has climbed as high as No. 59 in the Spanish overall women's rankings. She was runner-up in the prestigious Valencian championships.
"From the first moment I talked to Coach Sujay and Coach Marshall, I knew Arkansas State was the place for me" Carbo Chova said. "I am sure that with their way of working and their daily motivation, we can build a great team. For me to be part of the Red Wolves team is very rewarding because what I was looking for was a good university academically, and tennis, and I know I have found it. I am looking forward to starting with this family at A-State!"
Carbo Chova is the fifth addition to the A-State roster since Lama was named head coach in August 2023. Ariadna Fernandez and Anna Grigoreva were added ahead of the spring season and Carbo Chova joins Carla Muro Castellvi and Lilly Cvanciger in the fall of 2024.
