Red Wolves Second Entering Bracket Matches at Kat Klash

HOUSTON, Texas (11/2/24) – The Arkansas State women's bowling team was 4-1 Saturday and downed 4,873 pins in traditional matches to enter the Kat Klash bracket matches second behind host Sam Houston.

A-State (29-7) improved to 8-2 at the Kat Klash and has totaled 9,734 pins over 10 matches, 20 pins shy of Sam Houston for the lead. Stephen F. Austin (9,475), Louisiana Tech (9,260), Maryland Eastern Shore (9,250), Maryville (9,193), Tulane (9,188), Newman (9,141), McKendree (9,056) and Central Missouri (8,860) round out the top 10.

The Red Wolves opened the day with a 1,000-928 victory against No. 8 Sam Houston and rattled off three more wins against Central Missouri (954-836), No. 21 McKendree (951-912) and Adelphi (999-827). A-State led by 20 pins entering the ninth frame against No. 15 Newman but fell 1,017-969 to close out the day 4-1.

Karli VanDuinen totaled 1,040 pins, an average of 208, to pace A-State and rank third individually. She rolled a high of 238 against Newman and added 200-plus games against Sam Houston (207) and Central Missouri (219). Kaylee Back ranked eighth individually with 995 pins, downing a high of 247 against Adelphi. Amanda Lang bowled all five traditional matches and totaled 976 pins with a high of 210 against Sam Houston. Alex Anne-Auclair bowled the first four matches accumulating 751 pins while Saraylne Nassberg bowled the final three matches of the day and totaled 623 pins. Maggie Thoma downed 322 pins over the first two matches and Melanie Straub totaled 166 in the final match of the day.
