JONESBORO, Ark. (11/22/24) – Arkansas State men's basketball made 18 3-pointers in a 103-60 victory over Lane College Friday night inside First National Bank Arena.
The Red Wolves (4-1) improved to 4-0 at home on the year, and made 48.7 percent of their shot attempts (38-78) against the Dragons (0-5). A-State recorded a season-high 27 assists on 38 made baskets, while its 18 treys came on a program-most 48 attempts.
A-State won the rebounding battle 51-37, with 19 boards coming on the offensive glass. Friday's output marked the third straight game the Scarlet and Black had 19 or more offensive boards.
Justin Johnson led the Red Wolves with a career-high 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting. The freshman also grabbed eight rebounds and doled out five assists on the night, both highs, and is the first A-State rookie since Brandon Reed in 2010 to record 20-plus points, 5-plus rebounds and 5-plus assists in a game. Cody Head stuffed the box score with a season-high nine points, while also recording career highs in rebounds (6) and assists (8).
Avery Felts connected on 5-of-6 from deep for a season-high 15 points, while Joseph Pinion also had 15 points off the bench on three treys. The Morrilton, Ark., native also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds.
The Red Wolves began to head up after a Julien trey sparked a 15-2 run, putting them ahead 31-10 with 10:57 left in the half. That lead ballooned to as much as 33 before halftime when Felts drilled a trey with 2:36 left. A-State went on to hold a commanding 54-24 lead at the break.
In the second half, A-State's lead grew to 41 on back-to-back scores by Johnson, and then Pinion gave the Red Wolves their largest lead of the night, up 43 with just over 90 seconds left.

A-State returns to action Friday, Nov. 29, in the first of three games in three days at the Baha Mar Nassau Championship in the Bahamas.
