Pyeatt Set to Represent A-State at NCAA Cross Country Championships

11/22/2024 12:32:00 PM

JONESBORO, Ark. (11/22/24) – Arkansas State senior Jacob Pyeatt is set to compete on the national stage Saturday in Madison, Wis., as he toes the line at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

He will compete in the men's 10K at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course, with the starting gun slated for 10:10 a.m. The race will be broadcast live on ESPNU.

The top 40 finishers in the race earn All-America distinction, something an A-State athlete has not done in cross country.

AN ANNUAL AFFAIR
Since Jesse Duvall took the reins of the A-State cross country program in 2019, the program has made it a habit of having a representative at nationals. Pyeatt's appearance marks the fifth straight year the Red Wolves have competed in either race at the event.

HARD WORK MAKES IT HAPPEN
The climb to the top of the Sun Belt – and regional – cross country scene has not been an easy one for Pyeatt. He walked on to the program five years ago, but put in the hard work and mileage to now make a bid for All-America status.

THE ROAD TO MADISON
Pyeatt was one of the top runners in the conference all season long, capping it with an individual championship at the Sun Belt Conference Championship. He punched his ticket to nationals last week at the South Central Regional Championships by placing seventh overall, which also marked the third All-Region performance of his career.
