Izzy Higginbottom has earned Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Last week, the Junior led A-State to victories over South Alabama and Old Dominion while averaging 34.0 points, 5.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals. She shot 17-for-30 (57 percent) from the field and 33-for-34 (97 percent) from the free-throw line.
She matched her career high of 35 points and recorded five assists with four rebounds against the Jaguars on Wednesday. It was followed by a 33-point performance with five assists and two steals against the Monarchs on Saturday.
Higginbottom participated in 79 of a possible 80 minutes during both contests, playing all 40 minutes against South Alabama and 39 against Old Dominion. She committed only four turnovers and drew 19 fouls during that span.
She became one of 18 players to make at least 14 free throws with a perfect percentage in a game this season after finishing 14-for-14 against the Jaguars. Higginbottom broke her own conference record for most consecutive free throws made (53) and set a new team record for free throws made in a game (19) against Old Dominion.
The Red Wolves are on the road for the next four games with the first being a matchup against Georgia State on Wednesday evening at the GSU Convocation Center.
