JONESBORO, Ark. (4/24/24) – Arkansas State men's basketball head coach Bryan Hodgson announced Wednesday the addition of graduate transfer forward Kobe Julien to the 2024-25 roster.
Julien – a 2024 NABC First Team All-District 23 and Second Team All-SBC performer – joins the Red Wolves after spending the last six seasons (2018-24) at Louisiana and has one year of eligibility remaining. This past season, he led the conference in scoring at 17.3 points per game and shot 44.6 percent from the field. Julien earned two of his three career conference Player of the Week honors this past season.
"We are fired up to add Kobe to the Red Wolves family," Hodgson said. "Kobe has been one of the best players in the Sun Belt for the last several years, and brings some much-needed experience to our roster. Kobe has one of the most complete skillsets we played against last year, and is an elite scorer at all three levels."
The Baton Rouge, La., native scored in double figures 31 times this past season, including 20-plus in 11 games. He connected on 131 of 159 from the free-throw line, owning an 82.4-percent mark that tied for fourth in the league. He also shot 32.5 percent (53-163) from beyond the arc and averaged 4.8 rebounds per contest.
In Sun Belt play, Julien averaged 16.2 points and 5.3 boards, shooting 42.6 percent from the floor and 83.0 percent at the charity stripe.
Julien is a two-time All-Sun Belt selection totaling 1,135 points (12.1/game) and 353 rebounds (3.8/game) in his career and is a 43.2-percent shooter from the field, while shooting 33.9 percent from deep and 76.2 at the foul line. He boasts career highs of 30 points (Nov. 21, 2023, vs Buffalo) and 10 rebounds (Feb. 3, 2024, vs South Alabama), as well as five 3-pointers made at Louisiana Tech on Dec. 9, 2023.
