JONESBORO, Ark. (6/27/24) – The Mid-American Conference and Sun Belt Conference announced on Thursday November matchups for the 2024-25 MAC-SBC Challenge.
A-State's men's team will host Akron while the women's squad hits the road to face Western Michigan. The MAC men and Sun Belt women's teams will then host February matchups, which will be determined in January. All November contests will be played on Monday, Nov. 4.
The Red Wolves men – coming off their best season since 1999 in the first year under head coach Bryan Hodgson – have never faced Akron on the hardwood. A-State's women's squad owns a 3-0 all-time record against the Broncos, with the most recent victory in the series coming on March 18, 2015 – a 61-49 triumph in the first round of the WNIT in Jonesboro.
In last season's MAC-SBC Challenge, the Sun Belt reigned supreme on both the men's (15-9) and women's sides (14-10). A-State's men split matchups at Bowling Green (75-81) and versus Ohio (100-87), while the women cruised to victories against Northern Illinois (75-62) and at Akron (81-67).
