JONESBORO, Ark. (7/22/24) – The Arkansas State women's tennis team earned a 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team award while each student-athlete on the roster claimed ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, the ITA announced today.
The Red Wolves accumulated a 3.79 GPA over the course of the 2023-24 season. Rebecca Brody, Anna Grigoreva and Sarah Millard carried perfect 4.0 GPAs while Emiliya Margolin (3.90), Yasmine Humbert (3.80), Ariadna Fernandez (3.67), Abigail Thurmer (3.63) and Nejla Zukic (3.60) all finished above a 3.50 GPA to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
"We are very proud of our ladies for this outstanding achievement," A-State head coach Sujay Lama said. "Academic excellence is an expectation of this program. The hard work they have put in both on the court and in the classroom is truly remarkable. They are all very deserving of this accolade."
Within the sport of tennis, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2024, 1,573 Division I women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 255 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
All-Academic teams boasted a team GPA of 3.20 or higher. ITA Scholar-Athletes must meet the following criteria: 1.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 2.) be listed on the institutional eligibility form
