JONESBORO, Ark. (8/25/24) – Despite multiple opportunities for both sides, Arkansas State women's soccer (2-0-1) and Murray State (1-2-1) were unable to find the net as the contest finished in a tie on Sunday afternoon at the A-State Soccer Complex.
Damaris Deschaine picked up her third clean sheet of the season after recording five saves over 90 minutes, including a diving effort in the 59th minute that thwarted a would-be goal for the Racers.
Both sides took six shots and two shots-on-goal in the first half, but A-State had four fouls compared to one for the Racers. In addition to the fouls, the Red Wolves drew one yellow card in the 11th minute.
In the second half, the Scarlet and Black outshot Murray State 9-5 and had four opportunities from the corners. The Red Wolves applied pressure with four shots over the final 16 minutes, but a goal would not be scored as the match came to a close.
A-State has not allowed a goal over 270 minutes of play, which increases to 450 when including exhibitions.
