The visitors continued momentum in the third set, relying on a 7-1 scoring stretch to move to a 10-4 lead. A-State trimmed the deficit to three on one of Cail's eight kills, but Addy Brus recorded seven of her 21 kills to push SLU to a 2-1 lead in the contest, winning the frame 25-16.

After the Billikens scored the first two points of the fourth set, A-State rattled off five straight as part of a larger 8-1 run with aces by Cail and Lewis to lead 8-3. The Red Wolves pushed their lead out to as much as 11 on a kill by Whitlock that made it 21-10, and Lewis later sealed the 25-15 fourth-set win and force a fifth frame.
