TULSA, Okla. (1/11/25) – Arkansas State women's tennis picked up a season-opening victory on Saturday at the Hurricane Invite, topping Louisiana Tech 5-2 inside the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

A-State (1-0) claimed the doubles point over the Bulldogs (0-1) with wins at No. 1 and 2. Lily Cvanciger and Abigail Thurmer routed Alice Brook and Maria Tsironi 6-1 at the No. 2 slot, while LA Tech's Mio Kozaki and Nina Skoric evened the count with a 6-2 win at No. 3.

The doubles clincher came in tiebreak fashion, with Anna Grigoreva and Carla Muro Castellvi outlasting Zoie Epps and Ana Rodriguez 7-6(2) to give A-State a 1-0 lead in the match.

A-State then added four singles wins to take the dual match. Grigoreva topped Rodrigues 76-(5), 6-3, while McAslin earned her first collegiate win with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Skoric. Loles Carbo Chova won 6-1, 6-3 against Brook, while Muro Castellvi won a 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 decision over Kozaki.

LA Tech earned a pair of wins at No. 2 and 3 singles. Epps defeated Cvanciger 6-2, 7-5, while Millard dropped a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(5) outcome to Tsironi.
