JONESBORO, Ark. (1/2/25) – Arkansas State women's basketball (5-7, 1-1 SBC) used a late three-point barrage to secure a 66-56 victory over Marshall (5-8, 0-2 SBC) on Thursday night at First National Bank Arena.
Shaunae Brown led the team with 12 points while
Crislyn Rose fell just short of a double-double at eight points and a career high 10 assists.
Wynter Rogers also closed in on the feat, posting eight points with nine rebounds.
As a team, A-State shot 22-for-52 (42.3 percent) from the floor and 13-for-31 (41.9 percent) from three-point range, recording the largest comeback win of the season after erasing a 14-point deficit in the first quarter.
The Red Wolves fell into a 15-2 hole in the opening minutes, going scoreless from the 8:24 mark until
Nissa Sam-Grant drained two free throws with 4:12 to go.
Mimi McCollister closed the opening period with a three-pointer, but the Thundering Herd held a 20-9 lead.
A-State found a spark in the next quarter, draining three triples and a pair of layups to tie the game at 22-22. Marshall responded with a 7-2 run before it was
Anna Griffin's turn to end the quarter with a three-pointer, putting the Scarlet and Black within three points at the break.
As a team, A-State shot 9-for-22 (40.9 percent) in the first half, making six of those in the second quarter. The Red Wolves also converted five three-pointers and scored 13 points off nine turnovers.
The Scarlet and Black claimed their first lead of the contest in the third after Rose converted a Thundering Herd turnover into a layup. Rogers contributed six points in the quarter, allowing another three-pointer from Griffin to push A-State ahead 41-38 going into the fourth.
The Red Wolves opened the final period with a three-point barrage, draining seven triples to open their largest lead of the night.

Rose and
Kyanna Morgan alternated the next four three-pointers as the Red Wolves claimed a 62-49 advantage with 2:46 remaining. The Thundering Herd were unable to mount a response, missing all seven three-point attempts in the quarter as A-State claimed their first conference win of the 2024-25 campaign.
