Red Wolves Pick Up Three Wins Against Gonzaga to Begin Play at Tulsa Invite

10/3/2025 9:08:00 PM

TULSA, Okla. (10/3/25) – Arkansas State women's tennis opened play at the Tulsa Invite, notching three wins against Gonzaga.

"The first day of the tournament tested us — with both wins to celebrate and some losses to learn from," said Hanmare McAslin. "These moments are part of the journey, and it's in the face of adversity that our character is shaped. It was great starting the day with a very convincing doubles win with my partner Anna (Grigoreva). Although we hadn't played together in a while, we had a really good match. Ending the day with two singles wins gave us some momentum as we move in to tomorrows match."

Playing the hidden dual format, A-State matched up with Gonzaga playing a pair of doubles matches and four singles matches. McAslin and Grigoreva teamed up to top Gonzaga 6-2 while Lilly Cvanciger and Carla Muro Castellvi came up short 6-2.

Grigoreva rallied back from a 6-3 setback in the first set to defeat Diana Yanotosvskaya 3-6, 7-5, 6-1. McAslin grabbed a 6-0, 7-5 decision over Sveva Zerpelloni to add a second singles victory over Gonzaga. Cvanciger fell 6-1, 7-5 to Emily Robertson and Muro Castellvi was dealt a 6-2, 6-2 setback to Elizabeth Tindera.

A-State continues play at the Tulsa Invite Saturday matched up against Oral Roberts.
