HENDERSON, Nev. (2/24/25) – Opening the spring portion of its schedule, the Arkansas State men's golf team shot 2-under par 286 to stand third among 15 teams at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational.
Going 2-under on the day, A-State registered its ninth round under par in 13 rounds played this season. Long Beach State leads the field at 11-under par while Northern Illinois is second at 9-under par. The top three teams are the lone squads to finish under par on the opening round with the average score per player at 74.83 strokes.
Playing as an individual, Jake Lile paced the Red Wolves at 4-under par 68. He is four strokes back of Charlie Foster of Long Beach State for the individual lead. Lile led the 92-player field on the par-4s finishing at 5-under par while his six birdies on the day were second to Foster's seven. Jake Wallis is tied for 10th after a 2-under par 70, his sixth par or better round of the season. Chris Somerfield and Milan Reed are among five players tied for 16th at 1-under par 71 while Jack Maxey (+2) is 34th and Thomas Schmidt (+3) is 43rd. Pierce Johnson shot 2-over par 74 for 34th and Cole Kirby was 6-over par 78 for 71st with the pair also playing as individuals.
The second round begins Tuesday with tee times off No. 1 and No. 10 tees beginning at 8:00 a.m. Live scoring is available on SCOREBOARD by Clippd.
