STORRS, Conn. (3/22/25) – Arkansas State women's basketball (21-11, 15-3 SBC) concluded a historic season featuring the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance at UConn (32-3, 18-0 Big East), falling 103-34 on Saturday afternoon at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion.
The national leaders in three-pointers made and attempted per game finish with 21 wins, tying the 2004-05 and 2006-07 squads for the seventh-most wins in program history.
Crislyn Rose scored the first points of the contest on a drive and layup, but the Huskies responded with a 22-0 run to claim the early advantage.
Kyanna Morgan drilled a three-pointer at the 3:41 mark, but a 12-0 run from UConn capped the first quarter and resulted in a 34-5 deficit.
The Red Wolves' deficit grew in the second quarter after UConn outscored A-State 32-6, going into halftime down 66-16.
Wynter Rogers led the team in points during the second period, while
Anna Griffin capped the quarter with a buzzer-beating triple.
The Huskies continued building on their lead in the second half, outscoring the Scarlet and Black 26-8 in the third quarter. Rogers converted a jumper while Rose and
Kennedie Montue drained three pointers as the contest moved to the final period.
The Red Wolves outscored UConn 7-1 over the first 4:49 of the fourth, but it would not be enough as the 2024-25 campaign came to an end.
The 2024-25 Arkansas State Red Wolves finish as the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Champions for the first time in program history, securing the first winning season since 2015-16.
