JONESBORO, Ark. (3/9/25) – After a strong non-conference play, Arkansas State women's tennis is now set for Sun Belt Conference action Monday with its conference opener at ULM.
Match time from Heard Stadium in Monroe is slated for 10 a.m. A-State (7-4) enters the match having won three of its last four matches, while the Warhawks (3-3) are coming off a tough 4-3 win over Jackson State on March 1.
"Everything we have done so far has been to prepare to get off to a good start to the conference season," A-State head coach Sujay Lama said. "The area we have focused on is developing mental toughness, especially on the road. We are looking forward to seeing how far we have come since our last road trip."
A-State won the last meeting between the two squads, sweeping the Warhawks in Jonesboro last season.
Three players lead the team with seven dual-match singles wins: Carla Muro Castellvi, Anna Grigoreva and Lilly Cvanciger. Overall, Loles Carbo Chova retains the team lead with 14 victories this year.
In doubles play, Cvanciger and Abigail Thurmer have a team-high five wins. The duo also has nine wins overall.
