JONESBORO, Ark. (4/23/25) – Arkansas State's Loles Carbo Chova has earned Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and Second Team Singles All-SBC honors, as the league office unveiled its 2025 Women's Tennis Awards Wednesday.
Carbo Chova becomes A-State's first-ever player to earn SBC Freshman of the Year honors, and the program's first all-conference singles selection since Pornpawee Pramethong in 2019. She is also A-State's first all-conference honoree since the doubles tandem of Thea Rice and Nejla Zukic earned first-team laurels in 2022.
The rookie enters Thursday's Sun Belt Championships unbeaten in league play, boasting a 9-0 record, 8-0 at the No. 6 position. Overall, Carbo Chova is 23-4 – the most wins in program history in a single season when combining fall and spring.
This spring, the Gandia, Spain, native is 15-1 with a 13-1 mark at No. 6 singles before moving up to Courts 4 (0-0) and 5 (2-0).
A-State opens conference tournament play as the No. 9 seed and is set to face eighth-seeded Georgia State at 9 a.m. CT Thursday at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga.
