A-State Opens 2025 Campaign with Nine Wins Versus Ball State

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (9/12/25) – Arkansas State women's tennis opened the 2025 campaign with nine wins against Ball State on Friday at the Memphis Invite.
 
"We competed with grit and joy which we plan to carry into our upcoming matches throughout the weekend," senior Sarah Millard said. "We are all so pumped to be back playing with Red Wolves on our chests and are eager for the year ahead."
 
The Red Wolves swept their opposition in doubles, claiming two of three sets by five games. Lilly Cvanciger and Carla Muro Casellvi defeated Alana Bristow and Asia Fontana 6-1 while Sarah Millard and Hanmare McAslin pulled away with a 6-4 decision over Jemima Williams-Phillips and Gabriella Barrera. Anna Grigoreva and Meghna Arun Kumar completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 win over Priyanka Rana and Anya Tkachyk.
 In singles' play, Cvanciger downed Fontana with back-to-back 6-4 victories on court one. Grigoreva took the first set over Bristow 7-5 and followed with a decisive 6-2 score on court two.
 
Muro Castellvi defeated Rana in 7-6 (5) and 6-4 decisions on court three before McAslin came out on top against Barrera with 6-2 and 6-4 victories. Millard (6-3, 6-2) and Arun Kumar (6-3, 6-0) cruised to victories as the Red Wolves completed the match without losing a set.

The Red Wolves enter their penultimate match at the Memphis Invite, facing Middle Tennessee at 10:30 am.
