MEMPHIS, Tenn. (9/13/25) – Arkansas State women's tennis continued competition Saturday afternoon at the Memphis Invite, recording seven wins against Middle Tennessee.
"We fought through tough matches with determination and stamina," said freshman
Meghna Arun Kumar. "The team's comradery really showed today and kept us going."
The Red Wolves opened the day by claiming two doubles matches.
Lilly Cvanciger and
Carla Muro Castellvi defeated Lena Peyer and Eda Numanoglu 6-3 on court one.
Sarah Millard and
Hanmare McAslin dropped their match 6-3 on court two, but
Anna Grigoreva and
Meghna Arun Kumar claimed a 7-5 victory to close out doubles with a pair of wins.
Cvanciger opened singles with a 3-0 (6-3, 7-6, 7-4) win over Peyer, while
Anna Grigoreva claimed the first set 6-1 versus Sthefany Lima before falling 6-3 and 6-1 in the next two. Muro Castellvi claimed back-to-back 6-4 sets to defeat Rutuja Chaphalkar and McAslin won both sets versus Sadbaroy Kholdarova by 7-5 and 6-3 decisions.
Millard (7-5, 6-3) and Arun Kumar (6-4, 6-4) swept matches on courts four and five as the match drew to a close.
