Set 1
Lewis powered the A-State offense in what became a 6-2 run that made the score 17-13, but the Jaguars stalled momentum with three consecutive points. The Red Wolves held the lead until a four-point margin at set point was erased in a 6-2 run by South Alabama. A service error and attack error pushed the Scarlet & Black in front by a 27-26 score and Whitlock secured the set with a kill.
Set 2
A-State surrendered four points in a five-rally stretch to fall behind 14-10 and played catch-up for the remainder of the set. The deficit swelled to six points before a kill from Lewis sparked a 3-0 run, and after two scores for the Jaguars, the Red Wolves put together another 3-0 run that narrowed the gap to two. A service error extended the deficit to 24-21, and a kill in the ensuing rally resulted in the only set lost on the weekend.
Set 3
Three kills and two blocks powered A-State to an early five-point advantage, and after a brief run for the opposition, the lead grew to 12-7. Collum tallied four consecutive kills and countered the Jaguars' response with another to make the score 18-10. The Scarlet & Black did not allow a comeback bid to form, and an attack error sealed a 25-16 decision in the set and a 2-1 lead in the match.
Set 4
Another fast start for A-State resulted in an early 6-1 lead before South Alabama chipped away. The lead dwindled to 10-9 and the margin remained at one point until Lewis and Whitlock found gaps in the defense to make the score 15-12. The Red Wolves began to pull away beyond that point, winning six of the next nine rallies to build a six-point advantage. The opposition scored on a kill and an attack error before kills by Collum, Glunz and Lewis followed by another attack error propelled A-State to victory.
